Write,
If You Please.
AWCA × iranti press · FESTAC 2077
Exhibition · Lagos · October 2024
Project Overview
Write, If You Please was developed through the ongoing collaboration between A Whitespace Creative Arts (AWCA) Foundation and iranti press, bringing together the outcomes of the Manifesto Seeds and Publishing ACTS! programmes into a public exhibition.
The exhibition brought together artistic responses, workshop fragments, and experimental publishing practices developed through FESTAC 2077. Inspired by ancient methods of knowledge-keeping and the logic of the codex, it explored how ideas are preserved, shared, and carried forward across generations. Rather than presenting completed works for passive consumption, the exhibition invited audiences into an ongoing process of creation and exchange.
Through visual and sonic fragments assembled from the workshops, visitors encountered writing as a social practice capable of shaping public life. The exhibition examined how language can reveal structures of power, preserve overlooked histories, and create space for new narratives to emerge.
As producers, AWCA transformed a process-driven body of research and experimentation into an engaging public experience. The exhibition demonstrated that authorship is not fixed, that writing can function as a form of public participation, and that cultural futures are created not by a single voice, but through collective acts of imagination, dialogue, and exchange.
