Lagos Legacy
Lagos Legacy is a research and field project by [A]FA (Applied Foreign Affairs) at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, developed in collaboration with Legacy 1995 and a Lagos-based team of artists and researchers. Working across mapping, urban ecologies, urban acupuncture and performative practice, the project reads Lagos through its layered inheritances, colonial infrastructure, informal economies, vegetation, textile and plastic waste streams, and the everyday choreographies of a mega-city. Field research in early 2017 anchored a body of speculative interventions later presented at a Nigerian Railway Compound shed and the Lagos Biennial 2017, and published as the [A]FA Lagos Legacy volume. It treats heritage not as a fixed monument but as an active, contested condition to be worked with in place.
